Bueno me ha llegado un mensaje de un foro americano que me parece interesante ..... esta en ingles .....pero tiene su coña
OK, Don, back on subject, (kinda): A couple of years ago, I was backpacking in the Marble Mtns Wilderness (far northern California) when I encountered a hiker with 2 goats. The goats had small pannier-type packs on ´em and the hiker was not carrying anything. The goats would follow him around all the time like well-trained dogs. He said they easily become that domesticated and bonded when you raise them as kids. Other than being mountain lion bait and possible targets during hunting season (the goats wore orange tape on their horns and packs), he said they were the perfect pack animals. They could each easily carry up to 30 lbs and are small enough to be transported in most vehicles. They are cheap to own, and no goat chow was needed as they just grazed along the way. I didnt ask if he ever packed with female goats that could be milked during the trip, but I dont see why not for extended hikes. Anyone in this group ever do this? Just think what grand trips you could have with 60 lbs of goodies and nothing on your back! ron
